Leaked Trans-Pacific Partnership documents show U.S. government yielding to corporate interests.

Recently leaked documents coming out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations need greater public exposure before it is too late! Over the past two years, the United States has been meeting behind closed doors with eight Pacific nations, drafting an agreement designed to exempt multinational corporations from legal recourse if they violate domestic laws. If the leaks are anything at all representative of Trans-Pac’s final outcome, this agreement will set a dangerous precedent for government abdication of national interests to global corporatism.

We know that ‘hard to explain’ stories are sometimes ignored by mainstream media… but this could be a major game changer for the future of democratic self-governance, Rule of Law, and the ability of US citizens and political representatives to protect our national sovereignty. If you’re not getting more information on this story from the sources you trust, prepare to demand a thorough investigation into how this dangerous trade agreement will limit our ability to hold foreign corporations accountable for activities on U.S. soil.

Why corporate loyalty has gone global, suppressing political support for game-changing public investment in our nation and citizens

There’s a reason why government spending on renewable energy, infrastructure, and critical R&D is needed for domestic economic growth now more than ever. The private sector, driven by short-term profits and easily marketable products, will rarely invest in/develop transformative products until the government creates initial demand (US government bought most microchips, sustaining infant industry, until a market was created) or establishes the platform for such innovation (building a new energy grid to transport renewables, buying enough natural gas/electric vehicles to justify a private investment in refueling stations, etc.).

In his latest post for The New York Times’ Campaign Stops blog, Thomas B. Edsall ’blames’ technology for stagnant job growth (increased productivity, robotics, etc.), but that’s just one contributing factor. In Patriot Acts, I discuss why corporate loyalty has gone global, suppressing political support for game-changing public investment in our nation and our citizens.  The actions needed to spur large-scale, long-term job creation in 21st century America will only occur in partnership with the government (read: the People).

Mitch McConnell gives us a quick lesson in cognitive dissonance.

Following Obama’s press conference last week, Senator Mitch McConnell gave a quick lesson on cognitive dissonance. Even though he admitted Bush-era tax cuts were not reinvested in the US economy and did not create jobs, he still called for MORE tax cuts!

Repeat after me, “Ideology is the science of idiots.”
